When first introduced and welcomed to Jim’s studio, I was a bit nervous and intimidated because it was considered to be my “first encounter” recording in any type of studio. I told Jim that I didn’t think I had enough experience or knowledge to record in such a high quality studio. As Jim addressed my concerns, he showed me how his studio is open to individuals of all levels. Sharing testimonies of individuals that he had previously worked with (which obtained various levels and roles), quickly created a comfortable and relaxed setting. With much experience and background, I was amazed how Jim had the ability to relate and communicate with individuals with little to no experience or background! I felt at ease, when I saw how enthused he was about my ultimate goal, and how he could assist with his gifts, ideas and expertise.
During my first recording session… it started off a bit rocky; I had a lack of confidence and felt out of place.. I almost wanted to quit. Jim had such of way of building my confidence, and reminding me of who I am, and how far I have come. When I couldn’t reach a certain note or tone, Jim would push me, and do all that he could until I reached satisfaction. Example: he would educate me on how to position my body, mouth and neck to relax my vocal cords, give me vocal warm-ups, and/or play certain songs to get his message across.
I can actually say that my experience with Jim has been awesome! Presenting my finished project to many agencies, many have complimented me on the quality and sound of my music. I strongly believe that Jim gave me the ability, skills and confidence that I need to record in any studio, and perform in front of many.
Thank you Jim!!!
